Downtown LA: Food, Glorious Food.

March 14, 2011

It wouldn’t seem impossible to fall out of one restaurant door in Downtown Los Angeles, only to land in another. There are hundreds. Here are three to try. Appropriately named for its location at Union Station (800 North Alameda Street) Traxx features fine dining. Enjoy specialties like Chipotle crab cakes, Gorgonzola encrusted beef tenderloin and crunchy chocolate truffle cake served with crème anglaise. Gourmet Food and Wine and the Los Angeles Times have lauded Head chef and owner Tara Thomas. The menu at Liberty Grill is great American comfort food created by Chef Twain Schreiber. Located across from the Staples Center, the comfortable and simple atmosphere is as welcoming as the roadside diners and cafes that inspired the menu. You will find this popular eatery at 1037 South Flower Street. Enjoy Checker’s Californian cuisine in the historic art deco restoration, the Hilton Checker’s hotel. Casual elegant dining includes favorites like steak and seafood, but also unique specialties like Fava Bean and Gilroy Garlic Ravioli and the Downtown Braised Shortrib “Potpie.” Checker’s is at 535 South Grand. Foodies and fine chefs alike call Downtown Los Angeles home. Sound good? Call your Los Angeles realtor for listings.
